I now tell everyone to never buy another Samsung device. Never again, will we be buying a Samsung device. I asked if they were "****ing ****ting me" and the Best Buy guys said NOPE. Turns out that, even though it is an advertised feature on Samsung TVs, it was well known that this particular feature is just flat out broken on Samsung hardware.

I went shopping around to find a new receiver, and wanted to test out the "Audio Return Channel" capabilities of the Samsung Smart TVs to determine whether I'd be able to get rid of the Optical Audio cable that was passing audio from the Smart TV feature back to my old receiver by upgrading to a new receiver with that capability. To top it all off, after purchasing the TV, our AV receiver finally started to go bad after 8 years. Fixing it required a special technicians remote to get into a hidden repair menu. This happened to EVERY TV where their owners had previously turned off the CEC functions on the TV. Turns out that Samsung has screwed up the HDMI-CEC functions, and if they were turned off prior to the update, it put the TV into an endless power loop. After spending OVER 3 HOURS ON THE PHONE with Bestbuy, they finally decided they were going to send some technicians out. Thankfully we found our receipt showing that we had purchased the Geeksquad protection plan. the 1 yr manufacturer's warranty had run out).
