The computer went to sleep or whatever and when I came back earlier to post this, the flash drive was back in file explorer (red, full bar, says 14.0 KB free of 3.88 MB). Ill close this, since theres probably nothing we can do from our side. Its known that these types of issues can trigger a 'drive unplugged' event, and mount seems to confirm that (mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/mmcblk0p1).

In diskpart list disk its status is No Media, with 0 B size and 0 B free. Yeah, this really looks like a faulty card, or reader. But it shows up in diskmgmt as Disk 1-no partitions or volume, just blank grey. Made sure to run etcher as admin etcher finished validating and then said flash failed flash drive disappeared from file explorer. Tried flashing Ubuntu a third time with the latter. I don’t remember what all I tried but eventually I was able to successfully run clean. A couple weeks go by, I look into it again. Drive disappeared from file explorer, but showed up in disk management. Figured I mischecked how much storage it had left or it was just old, so I didn’t try much else and got a new one (NXT 32GB 2.0). others use tools like Rufus, balenaEtcher or the GNOME Disk Utility. Everything that was on it before was gone too. This determines whether the problem stems from the flash drive or Qubes installer. The bar was full and the size was messed up. It protects you from accidentally writing to your hard-drives, ensures every byte of data was written correctly and much more. Etcher is a powerful OS image flasher built with web technologies to ensure flashing an SDCard or USB drive is a pleasant and safe experience. “Flash failed!” Took it out, put it in a different port. Flash OS images to SD cards & USB drives, safely and easily. Tried flashing Ubuntu 20.04.4 LTS onto an old 16GB flash drive (PNY). I think only one is USB 3, but it might work better in one of the other USB ports (slower but maybe more reliable). If still problems, please try with another pendrive.Įdit: You can also try with the pendrive in different USB ports.

If still problems, you can use mkusb to wipe the whole device, which makes the pendrive more responsive, and after that clone from the iso file to the pendrive again. Otherwise (if still problems) you can try another tool, the built-in Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator or mkusb. I think Balena Etcher can do it (your problem is somewhere else). Flash them into your USB drive and try live.

I would recommend that you download version 20.04.3 LTS of Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE or Xubuntu (more than one if you have a good internet connection and compare them). It is 8 years old, and I think the computer would work much better with a light-weight community flavour of Ubuntu: Lubuntu, Ubuntu MATE or Xubuntu, that you can find via /. The CPU, Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU J1900 1.99GHz, was released Q4'13 (that is near the end of 2013). The USB pendrive, the Cruzer Glide looks OK according to the output from 'lsblk'. The mount error just indicates that the image wasnt fully written to the SD card - if you look at brianmituka s screenshot closely you can see that Etcher. The overall specs of the computer shows that it works with the installed Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS, but maybe the current version, Ubuntu Desktop 20.04.3 LTS wants more 'horsepower'. I'm looking at the uploaded system-info report file. Ubuntu-20.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso: OKYour downloaded iso file is OK
